RACING SUMMARY 3rd April 2010

The Shoalhaven Greyhound Racing Club raced a big 11 race program last Saturday  highlighted by the rich GRNSW Country Challenge final over the 520 metres.

There was a big Easter holiday crowd to witness the GRNSW Country Challenge Sprint Final and after a quick start the speedy Three For Ten ($3.25) lead easily down the back straight with Tarraleah ($7.00), Puddy Muddles ($5.00) and Did I Entertain ($1.75) doing the chasing. The early break was the difference and Three For Ten went on to beat Tarraleah by 3 ¾ lengths with Did I Entertain only ¾ lengths away in third with the time being a smart 29.95 despite rain during the event. Trained expertly by Michael Abbott of Falls Creek for James Hunt and he can’t believe his luck after securing the winner in a raffle at Wentworth Park when she was a puppy. She has now won the Richmond Cannonball sprint and now the Country Challenge Nowra series. Three For Ten has 12 wins from 22 career starts using her slick box manners and has taken her stakes earnings to just on $30,000 what a great result for raffle tickets as he bought “3 for $10.00” who said dreams don’t come true.

There was also the “Blue Paws” breeders bonus final for the 5th grade sprinters with the final going to Aces Will Do ($5.00) in 21.19 for Sue Sands who held off a gallant Neil’s Treasure ($8.00) to score by 2 1/2 lengths with Wongawillicarly ($7.00) a good third. Owned by Darryl Dunnell it was a fitting victory as the owner lost a member of his team last week in the heats after a nasty fall.

The “best of day” run over the short sprint went to the John Kegg trained Slippery Rah Rah ($3.00) who came with a solid finish to snatch the FFA sprint in 20.97 from Star Callah and Cawbourne Spur who both set a quick pace. Slippery Rah Rah has won his ppast two at the Pinebowl and he is being set for the rich “Blitz” series in May.

The local trainers did well on the big program with another winner going to Worrigee trainer Glenn Summerfield when Sandwich Bar Al ($3.00) scored a 3 ½ length victory in 30.86 at his second run in a race. The Des Hewitt trained Claytons Express ($8.00) showed good speed to lead and then went to the line well for a 30.46 win, it was a well deserved victory after bad luck cost him victory a few weeks back when a runner run back into the field. Cec Hickey trained Chicken Nugget ($2.50) to score another win after a solid maiden win last week and he again led and proved too good in 21.30 for the 365 metre trip.

Other winners were Boom Bee ($4.50) for Jaime Lloyd in the good time of 30.48, Cartier Lass ($7.00) for Peter Rowe in 21.17 leading all the way at very good odds, Telepathic Trek ($3.50) returned to the winners list for Robert Arnold in 21.17, Isatae Dawn ($2.50) won at her race debut in 21.18 for a very patient Terry Stanford as she is nearly 2 ½ years old having first start and Syd Wales scored a nice win with Dynamic Gray ($3.50) who won his maiden in 21.61 after some mixing in the early stages he drew clear to win by 2 lengths.

The weekend racing continues with the start of the new “TAB C” to commence here on Sunday with the first race around 12 noon. So let’s see you trackside with strong bookmakers to take all your bets and the TAB operating on all the action going out on the SKY Racing2 channel.
