RACING SUMMARY 10th
April 2011
The
Shoalhaven Greyhound Racing Club raced a strong 10 race TAB card last Sunday
with the highlight being the Jack Ingold Memorial
final.
The
Club completed essential sand works during the week with 100 tonne of high grade track sand loaded on after the heavy
rains of the past month and all went well prior to the rains coming Friday
night and Saturday night which left us with a heavy track on Sunday but with an
afternoon of drying weather and a little later start, all went well with a heavy
but safe surface.
The
Jack Ingold Memorial Final was the feature with Jack
being one of the Club stalwarts going back some 30 years it was fitting that a
good crowd turned out for his special race, from family to many of friends it
was a good turnout. The favorite was the sizzling heat winner Go Mini Mouse ($1.50)
and she did not disappoint the punters with a fast start to lead all the way in
20.91 with 5 lengths to spare over a gallant Mystic Icon ($5.40) with Red
Reward ($23.20) running on for third two lengths further back. The winner is
trained at Kurrajong (North of Richmond) by Norm Becroft and he has been a real supporter of racing at the Pinebowl in recent years especially with Puppy Classic
races. Tracey Becroft was on hand to collect the
trophy from Tony Ingold who also had a big family
attendance at the presentation and Tracey was pleased to collect the beautiful big
trophy. Go Mini Mouse at around 23 kilograms is a smaller greyhound and well
named but fast box manners will see her win many more races before the grader
gets her measure.
The
training honors where shared with a winning double to
Norm Becroft who scored in the trophy final plus
Ironbark Rebel ($1.70) continued his good form with his third win from his past
four starts in 30.89 on the slow track. Leppington
trainer Lorraine Dawes also scored a winning double in the last two events when
Yendor Girl ($3.20) came out running to score a slick
21.24 victory being win number four for her career. It took another fast start
by Thickness ($5.90) to bring up her double, a first on the TAB circuit for
Lorraine in 21.34 winning by more than 6 lengths.
The
second event saw a dead heat result when the Danielle Matic
trained Lambach Belle ($2.30) put in a big stride on
the line to get even with Fast Mirage ($3.10) for Susan Steele of Dapto and they could not be split by finishlynx
computer camera system and that is rare these days but Lambach
Belle was searching for 5 wins in a row and despite a good effort had to share
the spoils.
Local
wins were recorded by Cienna Rufus ($2.70) in 21.14
for Bob Arnold of South Nowra his first runner as a
trainer so well done Bob. Garland Boof ($4.60)
impressed with a strong maiden win in 30.78 for Chris Hensler
of Moruya and believe it or not Nowra’s
Pinebowl is his “local” track.
We
race again next Wednesday in the TAB Twilight zone with the earlier start of 3.35pm
for the SKY 1 Tab slot.
